My Seed Catalouge Ritual

It’s that time of year again! The worst part about seed catalogues is that they usually come right before Christmas when I’m too busy to dive into them. I can hardly wait until Christmas is over and all company is gone so I can start dreaming and scheming about what to plant this year! Crack open those catalogues which I hope offer you a great selection of non GMO and organic seeds. Here is what to keep in mind when choosing your seeds this year: Take an inventory of your current seed selection and check the dates on the packages to make sure they are not too old to germinate Have a garden plan so you know what you are planting this year Do a planting calendar which shows when you are seeding the vegetables and if they get started indoors or outdoors Share with a gardening friend to split the costs and get a better selection. An Introduction

It is hard to say how this came to be really, I remember emailing Mom and Shanna over a year ago saying this would be something fun to do together… but I think it’s bigger than that. Mom instilled an appreciation and respect for nature in us from an early age. I remember being about 8 years old and seeing the Greenpeace boat docked on Salt Spring Island and thinking that, is what I want to do when I grow up, sail around and save the whales. Every lemonade stand earning after that I asked to donate to charities that protected the environment. When Mom decided to write a book I helped her set up a blog so that she could start gaining an audience. But on top of her job, writing, keeping her urban farm happy, and adventures with her dog- finding the time to blog was a struggle.
